Delta Programme Commissioner Glas pleased with new Guidelines for Climate-adaptive Construction

Under the auspices of the Delta Plan on Spatial Adaptation, local governments all across the Netherlands are working hard on stress tests and risk dialogues in order to map out local vulnerabilities to climate change and increasing weather extremes. Meanwhile, the national government has explored options for fostering climate-proof construction through building regulations.

Such options exist! Meanwhile, they have been compiled into practical guidelines, co-published by the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Affairs, the Delta Plan on Spatial Adaptation, and the National Climate Adaptation Strategy. Delta Programme Commissioner Peter Glas is pleased with this publication: ‘These guidelines provide municipalities, regional water authorities and provinces with concrete tools to foster climate-proof and water-resilient construction.’
