Seventh Dutch Delta Congress 2016

The Seventh National Delta Congress was held in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, on Thursday 3 November 2016. The Delta Programme Commissioner and the Delta Programme partners – the Association of Dutch Regional Water Authorities, the Association of Provincial Authorities, the Association of Netherlands Municipalities) and the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment – welcomed the Delta community to the Theater & Congres Orpheus in Apeldoorn.

This year’s Delta Congress focused on keeping up the pace, staying on track, linking taskings, collaboration, and learning from one another. In plenary and parallel sessions, we discussed what needs to be accomplished in the period ahead and what this will require of us.

The plenary meeting featured speakers such as Melanie Schultz van Haegen, Minister of Infrastructure and the Environment; Rob Bijl, Deputy Director of the Netherlands Institute for Social Research; Peter Veld, who chaired the committee evaluating the Delta Act; and urban development expert Riek Bakker.

Throughout the day, the Delta Parade was once again the central meeting place. In the morning and afternoon, you were invited to attend various parallel sessions focused on Water Governance, Spatial Adaptation, Flood Risk Management, and Freshwater.
