Today, over 300 people attended the practical conference on climate-proof cities held at Het Klooster learning institute in Amersfoort.

Together with Climate Proof Cities and STOWA, the New Construction and Restructuring  sub-programme of the Delta Programme presented an engaging programme that allowed room for sharing knowledge and looking to the future.

The Delta Commissioner opened the conference and encouraged all the parties involved to convert vision into action and ambition; to work towards cities that are liveable, now and in the future.

He is looking forward to the recommendations of the coalitions involved that should clarify whether or not a national set of instruments is needed to be able to realise climate-proof cities. Four broad coalitions of authorities and private parties have been set up in the fields of construction/urban development, urban water management, public and green spaces and infrastructure. Their recommendations will be taken into consideration in the Delta Decision on Spatial Planning.
