´We are aware of the climate tasking that cities are facing. Merely supplying expertise on products and measures will not suffice. We need to adopt a different approach to water in the city, making allowances for a changing climate with both warmer periods and heavier rainfall. Living with water in the city is not just a matter of knowing; wanting and working are even more important,’ Wim Kuijken commented during his keynote address at the Future Green City trade fair in Den Bosch.
Sustainable, liveable and green cities occupied centre stage during this three-day trade fair, organised by Stadswerk (professional organisation of municipal authorities, focused on public spaces), and the sector association of horticulturists and landscaping companies. The trade fair was intended for municipal authorities, companies working for municipal authorities, landscape architects, urban development specialists, and other public authorities such as district water boards.
Mr Kuijken called on the target group to make an energetic effort in the pursuit of climate-active cities, in which green is the key.
