The Delta Fund will be extended by two years, up to and including 2030. Minister Schultz van Haegen (Infrastructure & the Environment) announced this today in a letter to the House of Representatives. The newly available budgets will be earmarked for the priority projects in the Delta Programme.

Delta Programme Commissioner Wim Kuijken welcomes this announcement: ‘The work on our delta is never finished. The tasking we have set down in the Delta Programme runs up to 2050. This essential continuation of the Delta Fund will support its realisation.’

The continuation of the Delta Fund ensues from a major, inter-ministerial policy study into flexibility in the infrastructure planning. The Cabinet is expected to present its substantive response to this study in the autumn. It will then also comment on the manner in which and the time at which the fund may be extended in the future.
