First cohort of Delta Managers graduated from Delta Academy
The first cohort of Delta Managers has graduated from the Delta Academy at the HZ University of Applied Sciences. Yesterday, students from the Netherlands, Estonia and Germany received their Bachelor’s diploma. The first diploma was presented by Bart Parmet, Director of the Delta Programme Commissioner’s staff.
Prior to the graduation ceremony, Mr Parmet explained the importance of having well-educated people to tackle delta issues. After all, more than half of the world population is living in delta areas. And these deltas are facing many challenges as a result of rising sea levels, soil subsidence, more extreme weather, changing river discharges, population growth, and economic development. The newly graduated Delta Managers and those who will follow are going to contribute to finding good solutions to these challenges, including Dutch delta issues.
