New approach to flood protection

"In the last cabinet term, the House of Representatives also talked about this. In the Delta Programme, we are working hard on putting this new approach into practice. The Delta Programme is, after all, intended to prevent disasters. It offers room for solutions other than responding to a disaster which had been the guiding principle until recently.
The chosen approach is being elaborated further in the draft Delta Decisions that will be presented on Prinsjesdag (the state opening of parliament) and for which I am currently drafting a proposal. In 2014, the final Delta Decisions will be included with the Delta Programme 2015 and everything will become real to people,” according to Delta Commissioner Wim Kuijken in response to the new approach to flood protection announced by Minister Melanie Schultz van Haegen on Friday, 26 April.
