Delta Programme 2017 explained to House of Representatives

In a meeting with the House of Representatives, Delta Programme Commissioner Wim Kuijken today gave an explanation of the Delta Programme 2017. During the meeting, chaired by Committee Chair Van Dekken, the five MPs in attendance expressed their commitment to the approach and the progress of the Delta Programme.

The representatives of the five political parties (VVD, PvdA, SP, CDA, and SGP) tabled various topical issues pertaining to the Delta Programme, including:

  • the Delta Plan on Spatial Adaptation;
  • the new flood protection standards and the associated assessment tools;
  • the earthquake resistance of the Groningen dykes;
  • innovations and international opportunities for marketing knowledge;
  • linkage opportunities; 
  • combating salinisation;
  • the Locks plan in relation to the flexibility of the Delta Programme.

The Delta Programme Commissioner spoke with the House of Representatives at the behest of the Standing Parliamentary Committee for Infrastructure and the Environment. The meeting served as preparation for the Legislation Consultations on Monday 14 November regarding, inter alia, the Delta Programme 2017 with Minister Schultz van Haegen (Infrastructure and the Environment).
